
UNIZIK Ag VC, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi Launches WTO Chairs Programme
The acting Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi yesterday launched the World Trade Organisation (WTO) chairs programme in Nigeria, on the sidelines of the maiden international conference of the Prof. Ngozi Egbuna International centre for Regional Integration And Trade Research. The maiden hybrid international conference and MSMEs exhibition had as its theme – “30 years of Nigeria in WTO, opportunities, prospect and challenges”.
Prof. Arinze- Umobi represented by Prof. Ufele-Obiesie, Director of UNIZIK Academic Planning while launching the chairs programme promised the support of the institution in realising the aims and mandate of the WTO chairs programme.
She commended the WTO Chiars in Nigeria, Prof. Ngozi Egbuna for being a wonderful champion.
Earlier in her office, the Acting VC, Prof. Arinze-Umobi received in audience Prof. Abraham Nwankwo, Former DG of Nigeria Debt management office and Chairman of the conference, Prof Muhammed Tawfiq Ladan, immediate past DG, Nigeria Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, the Director ICRITR and WTO Chair Prof. Ngozi Egbuna and other dignitaries. She welcomed them to unizik and assured them of the support of the management and staff as well as students of the university.
In his brief remarks during the launch, Prof Ladan congratulated Prof. Ngozi Egbuna for being the first WTO chair in Nigeria.
In her address, the Director of the International centre for Regional Integration And Trade Research, UNIZIK and WTO chair – Nigeria, Prof. Ngozi Egbuna thanked the WTO DG, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for finding her worthy for such an appointment.
She pledged to do her best in the discharge of WTO chairs programme and called for partnership from the industry stakeholders.
